Name: Hannah Barnes
Age:: 24
Reason for attending festival: She's a journalist for a small alternative magazine, and is hoping to get noticed by getting cozy with the bands and getting amazing interviews with them.
Picture of your character:
Personality: Hannah is thin and tall, and carries herself with a sense of confidence that comes from knowing how to get what she wants. Her hair is naturally blonde and wavy, and it falls just below her chest. She has sideswept bangs that when straightened reach the tip of her nose. Speaking of her nose, she hates it. A lot. Hannah thinks her nose is crooked and far too pointy at the end, but she's vowed to never get plastic surgery. With her, what you see is what you get and she wouldn't want to mess with the way she was born. She weighs about 125 pounds and is 5 foot 7 inches tall, which sets her a little "underweight", but she doesn't complain about her weight. She has a bit of flab on her stomach and arms, and she absolutely hates to work out.
Personality: In a word, Hannah is vivacious. She's feisty and spunky, and doesn't let anyone else stand in the way of her dreams. She's very set in her ways and has a specific set of beliefs that she will defend to the death. In this business, she's learned to think before she talks and comes off as a very likeable, albeit a little rowdy in her interviews She's a big fan of alcohol but can hold her liquor very well so she tends not to do anything stupid while intoxicated. Hannah takes a long time to warm up to. She's met so many fakes during the course of her life that she's very picky about who she associates with. But once you're her friend, she is a total sweetheart. The face she wears in public is very similar, actually, to her personality with her friends. She never felt the need to change her personality when she was with different people, just like her reluctance to change her appearance. What you see is what you get. However with her friends, she loosens up just a teeny bit. Cracks more jokes, becomes more willing to jump up on stage and sing some karaoke...with her job, she finds it very difficult to find time to relax, especially because she's so driven, so when she does have time to chill out, she makes the most of it. She's a risk taker, and isn't afraid to write something that might offend people. Her job is incredibly important to her and she knows not to do something that would compromise it. She hopes that she has the talent to do so and constantly hones her writing skills and asks for critiques to improve her technique. She doesn’t mind writing editorials and the like, but her biggest passion is interviewing. She had always wanted to be a singer when she was growing up, but lacked the star quality and the songwriting talent to do so. That being said, part of her lives vicariously through the stars that she interviews in the music business, but she loves interviewing and writing. It gives her a chance to be herself.
Likes:: Writing, talking, singing in the shower, goofing off, dogs, stuffed animals, candy, beautiful men, interviews, drinking, partying
Dislikes: Sleazy men, cats, sellouts, business moguls, slobs, feet, ears, fake people, overly manufactured pop princesses, sluts, smoking/smokers
Sample Post: This is a recycled post, and far too long for this site, I know. But hopefully that won't affect my acceptance. If it does, I can write another post.
Hannah hated Andy’s reputation. That was the only thing keeping her from pretty much jumping his bones. Why couldn’t gorgeous guys just not take advantage of the fact that girls liked them so much?? The world would be a much easier place if they did, trust me. Boys are really far too confusing, and they’re not really worth as much energy as it takes to pursue them. Hannah had tried her hardest to mask her feelings from Andy, and she had thought she was doing a pretty good job until Lizzie told her that Andy had found out. Well, it also could have been Lizzie’s incessant negative comments about him to Hannah that clued him in. Lizzie is a wonderful girl and definitely Hannah’s best friend, but sometimes, the blonde just really wanted to smack her. She sometimes let things slip that Hannah really didn’t want anyone knowing. It was strange, really. You’d think that Hannah of all people would be honest with Andy and tell him that she liked him. At least that way, she’d have a definite answer. Either he liked her or he didn’t. But there was something about guys where Hannah didn’t want a definite answer. She wanted to dwell on it a little bit. I suppose it’s because she never really crushed on a guy, she crushed on what they could be, or what she wanted them to be. Most of the guys she had dated or had a crush on were complete losers or assholes or idiots, so she spent her time thinking of what would happen if and when they changed. But they never did. And that was really the case with Andy. She wanted Andy to be nice to her, and to appreciate her as more than just a woman, more than just an object. But as she grew in age she became more realistic about her male expectations. She knew that Andy would never do that, or at least he wouldn’t until he was old and grey and wrinkly and nobody wanted to date him anymore.
Hannah wanted Andy to tell her to steer clear. She wanted herself to tell her to steer clear. But as hard as she tried nothing could fully get her to stop liking Andy. She supposed it would finally sink in if he actually told her he wasn’t interested. And it might sting at first, but at least then she wouldn’t have to go through the turmoil of some rollercoaster relationship with Andy and then have him rip out her heart and cut it up into little bite-size pieces and then eat it. As gruesome as that is, that’s probably how Andy would do it. Or at least it was how the pessimistic side of Hannah imagined he would do it. Dump her, that is, is the “it” I’m talking about; he would probably just walk up to her and say “We’re over”, then leave. Something harsh and cold, just like that. Andy Marks didn’t care about girls. Hannah didn’t know why she fooled herself into thinking he did. Snapping herself out of her grumpy state of mind, she heard Andy mention something about how she should know better that he didn’t give a damn, which basically confirmed her previous notions. She laughed dryly. “I should know that, shouldn’t I? I guess I just haven’t learned,” not only did her words relate to the conversation, but they fit in with her current thinking almost exactly. Why hadn’t she learned yet? Damned if I know. Sometimes Hannah is just plain thickheaded.
The wavy-haired blonde had nothing else to do but roll her eyes when Andy brought up her job. Her job, her job…she was so bloody sick of her job! She had gotten decent enough grades, so why hadn’t she fucking gotten a better job? She could do ANYTHING better than being a waitress for the rest of her life. But she really had no idea what to do. But then, as Andy was talking about his job as an Auror, it hit her. Ministry! She could try to get something in the Ministry! Even if it was a little job, she could continue to work in the Three Broomsticks until she moved up in the ranks, so to speak. Smiling a little to herself, she resolved to stop by the Ministry and inquire about some jobs the next time she was in London. This was good, this was progress! Maybe she would get out of the Three Broomsticks by the time she was eighteen after all. But now’s probably not a good time to start daydreaming about an awesome, exciting Ministry job, because Andy was still talking to her. “Actually, yeah I am jealous. If I had known all you did as an Auror nowadays was be lazy and chat up members of the opposite sex, I would have been an Auror too.” Hannah chuckled sarcastically as Andy made his typically Andy comment about guys hitting on her. Oh Mister Marks. What are we going to do with you, hmm? “Hah, by “men”, you mean old fat drunkards hitting on me, then yeah, I get a lot of those.” Damn! She really wished that hot guys hit on her in the Three Broomsticks. Maybe if they did, she wouldn’t still like Andy.
