I AM MY OWN WORST ENEMY
I'M NOT THE SMARTEST MOTHER FUCKER AND SHIT I DON'T PRETEND TO BE
The first time she said his name- he flinched. He couldn't bare to look at her. He just stood there, silenced, wishing he could turn around and bolt out the bus door. It was right behind him, it wouldn't take more than a few seconds for him to be running across the lot- away from Pete- away from Brodie, away from almost everything he couldn't stand right now. He had nothing to say, not like he could speak in the first place. The words were shoved down his throat, burying themselves further each time he wanted to say something. His eyebrows furrowed as she spoke, but he kept his eyes fixed on the ground. He took a deep breath and held it, his mind frozen. her words pounded in his head and he couldn't get them out.
His breathing sped up, the more nervous he got, the more he sweat. He could feel his cheeks flare up, turning beat red the more she swore at him. What did she know? It wasn't Patrick's fault that she destroyed her relationships. She didn't know the things that had happened between Pete and Patrick. She didn't even know half of it. So how was it in her place to judge how he reacted to things. He sneered, opening his mouth to snap back at her, but stopped himself. Patrick glanced up at her, staring directly at her for a moment before veering his gaze away, looking to the floor again. Maybe she was right. Perhaps he was acting foolish. He stood there, silently, staring at the floor- unable to move, unable to speak. He could feel his hands trembling at his sides and he clenched his fists, then loosened them so that his finger tips barely touched his palms. There wasn't much he could do or say to make it up to Pete, now Brodie as well. He didn't mean to make her mad. Maybe that just proved he was a better listener than a talker. Only managing to choke out "I.. I'm.." But stopped himself. Would it just make her even more angry if he said that he was sorry? He stopped himself, so confused what to do. Patrick sighed, his hands loosening completely.
